This unique memorial is actually an authentic cast iron fire hydrant (less the internal workings). It features a flute barrel and top stock design, the same design manufactured for use in the late 19th century. The hydrant is crafted by a company that has been manufacturing fire hydrants in America for over 150 years.
Your personalized text, up to 8 characters, will be engraved on the included name plate in capital letters. Have the aluminum plate feature your dog’s name, significant date or special sentiment. The plate will be color coordinated to match the color of hydrant selected and will hang from a stainless steel chain.
An optional urn/memento canister is also available. (It can be easily placed inside the hydrant by simply unscrewing four bolts and removing the top.) The canister, featuring the words “My Faithful Friend and Companion,” can be used to store your beloved dog’s ashes or small cherished mementos, such as tags or collars. Each screw-top metal canister measures 7.5" in height by 2.75" in diameter and approximately holds 17 oz or 30.68 cubic inches. (One urn canister is typically sufficient for the ashes of small and medium sized dogs. Larger dogs may require two canisters, both of which will fit inside.)
To ensure that the 23 inch tall and 7¾ inch wide hydrant is safely fastened, it comes with four 12-inch stakes. Simply anchor the hydrant to the ground by inserting the stakes through the slots on the bottom flange.
